Heads Welcome

On behalf of all our children, staff, governors and families, I would like to welcome you to our website. I hope you are able to find all the information you require about our happy and vibrant school. We pride ourselves on our kind and caring environment where our children feel safe and supported. They know they can talk to any adult in school about how they are feeling and if they are worried about anything.

I am very proud to lead Holy Name because of the wonderful values the school stands for. We are a school where everyone is welcome and we enable our pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes for themselves. With Christ at the centre of all we do, the community here at Holy Name lives out our mission statement each day: Loving, Learning, Living, Laughing: Together in Faith.

We offer a broad curriculum which inspires children to not only learn from the past but to aspire for the future. As children progress through our school, we provide a wide range of enrichment activities which enable the children to understand how their learning impacts on society.

With our challenging and ambitious expectations comes great outcomes for our learners. The children are self-motivated to achieve their best. Our national data shows that we are performing at a high standard in EYFS, Key Stage one and Key Stage 2 as well as in phonics and the Year 4 multiplication check.

For all at Holy Name, education does not stop within the classroom. We have a fantastic learning environment surrounded by large playing fields and playgrounds which allows the children to access a wide range of sporting clubs including, football, basketball and dance. We also offer opportunities to excel in art and creative opportunities within our allotment and forest school clubs. We also extend our curriculum with a variety of trips including trips to the seaside, the power station and local visits to places such as Temple Newsam.

Through a wide range of pupil groups, we support our pupils to be proactive in identifying need and make changes. Pupil leadership is one of the pillars of our community where all pupils know that they can have an idea, no matter how big or how small, and they will be listened to. In the past, our pupil leaders have promoted Odd Sock Day , Anti-Bullying Week, fundraising for local charities and even shopping for the food bank.

As a Catholic school, Christ is at the centre of our daily lives within the school and we try to live out the virtues each day. Being virtuous enables the children to be good and do good within our school, home and wider communities. We offer an outstanding Catholic education where children learn the teachings and values of the gospels in order to use these teachings in their own lives.

I hope you are able to find all the information you need about our school. If you would like to discuss anything you see on our website or would like further information, please contact the school office.

God Bless
