Collective Worship Policy

As the children progress along their journey through school they also progress along their spiritual journey and become more involved in the planning and preparation of Collective Worships.

In Reception the children make choices about the Collective Worship Altar and what should be placed at the centre of their worship. Their worship will last for 5 minutes.

In Year 1 they will read during the Collective Worship and will begin to write their own prayers that are appropriate for the theme. They will also continue to set the Altar. Their worship will last between 5 and 10 minutes.

In Year 2 they will further develop thier involvment in worship by continuing to write their own prayers, set the altar as well as reading from the bible and choosing hymns. Their worship will last between 5 and 10 minutes.

In Year 3 and Year 4 the children create their own worship working with the teacher and then lead their classes in the Collective Worship prepared. Their worship will last for 10 minutes.

In Year 5 and Year 6 the children create their own worship independently before leading the class.  Their worship will last between 10 and 15 minutes.
